Bringing painting from canvas to human skin, Rafael integrates multiple artistic techniques into a single work, conceptualizing the idea with the model and transforming it through body painting. He works from photographic negatives, inverting real imagery to produce digital photographs that present his body art in an entirely new context—one defined by unconventional textures and values. He calls this approach “Color Achromatic.” Through body painting, he proves that artistic outcomes are the same regardless of skin tone, affirming the belief that we are all one race: The Human Race.
